American Style Pancakes

So since its lent and all I decided to give up sweets and chocolate as I am literally addicted to them! I've been trying to find new ways to get my sweet fix, through more filling ways, instead of just eating bags of sweets.I've never tried american pancakes and always thought they'd be hard to make but they're super simple and really yummy! Once you cover them in maple syrup and blueberries you just can't stop eating! soo yummmmy!

So first here's the list of ingredients you use:

200g Self raising flour

1 tsp of baking powder

300ml milk

knob of butter

Blueberries

Oil or butter to cook with

Maple Syrup or you can even use golden syrup

So first of all measure out all the ingredients, mix together the flour, baking powder and a pinch of salt in a mixing bowl. Next up beat the egg up with the milk. You then need to make a well in the centre of the dry ingredients and pour in the wet ingredients. I use an electric whisk usually as 1. I am lazy and 2. I like to ensure the mixture is mixed well due to previous experiences with lumpy batter! This should leave you with a thick batter, you can beat in some melted butter too!
At this point, if you like you can add in some blueberries to the mix,I personally choose not to but i'm sure this still tastes great!

Then heat up a pan, i usually heat it quite hot to speed up the process then turn it down a little when I add in the fat, either oil or butter, I use butter. I turn it down to ensure the fats don't fry and fizz away! I then use a ladle, or something of a similar size to drop in some batter into the frying pan, now make this as big as you want but don't add in too much otherwise you'll get full super quick, then not leave enough room for more pancakes!!!
Leave the mix to cook for about a minute, or until brown then flip and then a minute or so again for the other side! Then tadaa you're done!

I then drizzle mine all over in syrup and top with blueberries and tuck in! They do taste best when you have a few at the time but if you can't wait then tuck in! Repeat the process for the rest of the batter. I would say this makes around 8 biggish pancakes but would definitely makes 10, I just like to make mine a bit bigger!

I hope you enjoy these and find them as yummy as me

Secretly Stylish

I have a hidden secret and it comes in the form of Dorothy Perkins new Spring Summer 2015 collection. I am in looove. I sometimes feel that people overlook dorothy perkins when shopping or searching but they have some fabulous items, although I do admit some are a bit too blah, boring or very work wear but I do think this retailer has huge potential! I discovered this today and thought i'd share. I was drawn in by their offer of 20% off everything! They always have mad deals going on so you can definitely grab a bargain! I've shared with you my top picks from the collection and written a little as to why I love them!
I love the colours of shirt and the prints! Its a great item to take you from Winter into Spring.
I fell in loove with this top today! I love the style of it and the little tie at the neck giving you the option to wear it in more than one way. The reason I love it is the paisley print! Just so you know, I am mad for anything paisley and this print goes in so well with the SS15 trend of 70's!
I think the colours in this jacket are stunning and a great statement piece over a simple dress! Could be appropriate for a number of events and could be worn both smart and casually!
Finally, as I don't want to bombard you with pieces, these shorts are great! It might be a bit chilly for them at the moment, but could definitely be dressed up with a black cami for night! I think they're such a nice style and love the print of them! I will definitely be picking up myself a pair once the weather gets warmer! I hope i've inspired you to give Dorothy Perkins a chance, it might not be your style but i'm sure you'll find something and make use of that brill offers! The shoes and accessories are also lovely and very affordable! Hope you enjoyed my first post!
