Beautiful Brownies

Brownies are one of my favourite treats, they're so moreish! However I have never quite been able to perfect the brownie until recently. I searched and searched for recipes and over the years i've had some disasters but finally they came out the way I wanted!

I think it may be due to the cooking time and my keenness or different ovens and their temperatures etc, this cooking is a complicated thing. But here they are, my yummy brownies! I got the recipe off this BBC Food recipe. The title is Best-ever Brownies and they really were!

I made a few changes by using different amounts of each chocolate as i'm not a huge white chocolate and dark chocolate fan! I used one sainsburys taste the difference bar of chocolate and the other two I used were just sainsburys chocolate and it worked perfectly! I had a few issues with the cooking time but I just ended up putting them back in the oven and they came out all yummy with lots of gooeyness but not too much! Mmmmm I just want to make some more!

Enjoy

I'm bag mad!

Anyone who knows me knows I just love a bag, I love to chuck all my stuff in so it has to be a good size but I also love to have a new bag every few months! Bags are just a staple and there are soo many amazing one's to be found this summer!

I feel that Zara have the edge over a lot of high street retailers for their bags and as they are continuously bringing in new stock each week it means they bring out new bags all the time! This summers collection of bags is no exception, they're all goooregous! Zara's collection are all stylish and made out of high quality materials and the best thing is they're usually pretty affordable! I've got a suede one from 2 years ago and it only cost £20 and its lasted me agees!

I highly recommend checking out Zara's bags both instore and online! You're sure to fall in love with one!

The ones i've used in this post range in prices but you can get one for £20 and some up to and over £100 but depends what your budget is

Hopefully you'll find your dream bag on or 4 on Zara too!

Coachella

I'm sure most of you know about Coachella Festival which is on this weekend and next weekend, for those of you who don't, its an arts and music festival and looks amaaaazing! Its based in Indio, California and is popular with all the trendy celebs. One day I hope to go, but its in America, which is pretty far away and pricey BUT its on my bucketlist!

Since I won't be attending but dream to, Ive created some outfit ideas for the festival and these could even inspire you for the coming summer festivals! The fashion at the festival is always inspiring for any festival goer or even just summertime!

Here's my top 5 looks i've created

Since Coachella fashion usually has a bohemian vibe about it i've tried to incorporate this in my looks, along with the top trends of this summer of Palazzo pants, tassles and 70's vibes. Also sunglasses are a must for every look as they'll be in Sunny California! I hope you enjoy these looks and get a feel for what Coachella is to me and i'll be sure to be keeping track of the top trends and hopefully do a post on the best one's ive spotted!

I used a site called Polyvore which I recommend you check out!

I selected the items from H&M, New Look, Zara and River Island!

hot cross buns

So easter is nearly over (in terms of holiday for me) and I know Hot Cross Buns are associated with Easter but I love to eat them all year round! But I thought I may as well bake a batch of the yummy buns whilst its still Easter time, I thought it was more fitting!

I used this recipe from Delia, http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/cuisine/european/english/hot-cross-buns.html

I made one change, instead of currants and candied peel I just got some dried mixed fruits which worked just as well and combined the weights

This was a super easy recipe to follow! Sometimes I find that recipes over estimate the amount of cakes or buns etc you get out of a batch but I managed to get 12 good sized hot cross buns, I was pleasantly surprised!

It doesn't state a time needed though, but I'd say the whole process took around 4 hours, this includes 2-3 hours of proving and sometimes a bit more and then the prep and cooking time! So not too much time for a recipe involving yeast and you can always do other things in the proving time.

Here's my photos of the lovely buns themselves

Enjoy

They go perfectly with a cup of tea

Swanky Suede Skirts

So this spring summer if you haven't already noticed Suede is in! I've been trawling the internet to try and find the best suede skirts this season so thought i'd share them with you!

First of all this lovely asos suede skirt. I adore this, the style is great and I love the addition of the tassles at the side! It's £65 which is a little out of my student budget but we can still admire

Asos Skirt

I think the style of this skirt is great and could be really flattering! Its from Mango and can be found on Asos. I would say the only downside to this is the darker colour, but living in England we don't have summer everyday so darker colours are still needed!

This one from h&m is rather pricey at £99.99 but is premium quality and thats what you want from a suede skirt, its definitely an investment i'd say! I love the longer length of this and the press studs at the front for added detail!

I think this one may be my favourite, I love the colour and the tye dye effect at the bottom! Its not too light like the others and is a bit more funky! Its a bit pricey again at £79.99 but most likely worth it!

I just love this one too (i love them all) the poppers down the front just give it that edge for me, true feel of 70's style! But sadly this one has sold out in most sizes, but we can dream!

I have found an affordable suede skirt! Well suedette

I think this is the best priced suede skirt i've found, although its not suede its the next best thing and a lot more affordable at £19.99! I shall be purchasing one myself before they sell out hopefully!

Finally, I had to sneak in these gorgeous shorts from Zara!

I definitely will be getting some of these in time for summer! I just love the style and the cut out detail! Bargain at £19.99 too!

I hope you've developed as much love for suede skirts as me after reading this! I apologise about the huge amount but as I was searching I kept finding more and just had to share them all with you!

You can't have Easter without a cake!

So you can't have easter without a cake lets be honest! After trawling through Pinterest I found a cake I knew I must make! I thought i'd share with you my creation!

Just a quick post, I need to get back to grab a slice of cake before it all goes!

Happy Easter everyone

Easter Baking

Happy Easter everyone!

Easter is the perfect excuse for exciting baking! I have been trawling through pinterest for weeks to help inspire me for my Easter Bakes! I decided upon some cupcakes in yellow icing, a colour very fitting for Spring and some nest ones! I am also in the process of making a Easter Cake and I shall post that tomorrow hopefully!

So here are my cakes

The recipe I used was:

4oz Caster Sugar
4oz Margarine
4oz Flour
2 eggs
1 tsp of baking powder
Yellow food colouring

I simply mixed the sugar and butter together until it was creamed, then slowly added in the eggs and flour and baking powder, then once this had all mixed put in some food colouring, for that extra easter touch!

I then baked them for around 20 minutes, or until they spring when touched!

I left them to cool and made my icing, which was buttercream and added in some food colouring. I don't tend to follow a recipe for buttercream icing, but a guide i use it to have twice as much icing sugar as butter. I mix the butter first then add in the icing sugar and sometimes need a little more until its gone fairly stiff. Another tip I would recommend is putting the icing in the fridge for around 10 minutes to give a little more stiffness, which will help you to achieve the peaks when icing and makes the icing a little less sloppy.

I had made the little flower decorations earlier in the day! They are quite simple and I use sugarcraft tools such as stencils and stamps which are very cheap to pick up on amazon!

I then decorated them with a piping bag and two different piping nozzles and decorated with a bit of glitter and the flowers and mini eggs!

I hope you enjoy the cakes and have a go yourself! Check out pinterest for inspiration and I wish you all a happy Easter!
